Today is the mass market of writing there are so many writing tools and sources that are available. One of the key sources to making money is the Writers Market which is a book of millions of places to sell your writing from consumer to trade publications.
The Writers Digest Magazine is another source that includes writing tips, contests, and more writers. Style guides are good reference tools to have on hand. Quick reference tools such as the 20,000 misspelled words, a dictionary, and thesaurus.
Depending on the kind of writing that you do you should have available a AP style guide, APA Style guide just to get the feel and have knowledge of the style of writing. It is important to know what type of style is being used at the various publications. However, most newspapers use the AP style of writing.
If your writing niche, is legal you should have your legal reference tools available. You should not just rely on the internet but use all types of libraries as reference sources. You should interview sources again based upon your type of writing knowledge you should research the source and have as much information about the subject to best conduct your interview.
