As with many country singers, Tim Campbell started singing in church with his family at an early age. Deciding that singing wasn’t enough and a singer needs to play the guitar too, Tim set out to find one. Being a “lefty” he soon discovered that most guitars available to him were right-handed. This could be a problem but the desire to play music was so strong that he taught himself how to strum a twelve-string guitar upside down. Destiny had begun for the young Tim.
A school talent contest was his first public debut. He soon found himself playing with a local band every since that day. Debuting professionally at age twenty, Tim performed with his brothers in the band “Country Thunder”.
Another noted accomplishment an older Tim won first place in a talent contest for his writing and singing abilities. After “Country Thunder”, Tim went on to play with “Driftwood” with Ray Warren and Dave Spier, his future band mates in “Doc Holiday”.“Driftwood” was a very popular St. Louis favorite and the band opened or many visiting country artists, including Doug Stone. As most aspiring country singers do, Tim decided to move to the Nashville area to expand his musical experience where he played with members of “Highway 101” and Daryle Singletary. He also expanded his writing knowledge attending writers groups with other local Nashville writers. Valuable knowledge had been added and definitely is being utilized today.
Later, Tim moved back to the St. Louis area and joined “Long Haired Country Boys” with America’s pre-famous, “Red Neck Woman”, Gretchen Wilson and they performed together until she moved to Nashville. After “Long Haired Country Boys”, Tim then formed the bands “Dogpatch” with Dave Spier and “Dogs Unplugged” with other former Gretchen Wilson players for many years in the St. Louis area.
With the formation of Doc Holiday in 2009, Tim joined with his old band mates Dave Spier and Ray Warren along with other local legends to become the area’s top Classic Country band.
