Today in the generation of the pandemic, people are doing without. One of the things that has become a part of the new normal is life without sports. How is the public as a society handling having no sports in their life to keep themselves entertained.
The bigger question is how are the professional athletes across all sports genres keeping busy. Social media is the way a lot of athletes are handling the shutdown. Professional athletics are interacting with fans through twitter, Instagram, and TikToc. Even the sports clubs have started posting on TikToc various things about the club.
During the 1918 pandemic sports suffered a look at an old photo says a lot.
In looking at this 102 year old photo, it got me thinking what will sports look like when they start to play again. It has been discussed to play without live fans. The question that it left me with is will the players be wearing masks. The National Football League is testing N95 surgical mask material on modified face masks to help fight the spread of COVID-19.
What do Sports Announcers like Joe Buck do during a pandemic. One way coming up with creative ways to call play by plays and number two they a create podcasts along with friend Oliver Hudson called Daddy Issues.
Today there are more ways to stay connected with your sports teams, and sports personality during this quarantine. Social Media, is a key part of staying in touch with players and teams going live to connect with fans. There have been a variety of sports personalities who have came up with creative ways to stay in touch with friends, family and of course the fans.
Currently the NFL, are looking to modified the helmets that will include a surgical mask material, or looking to make all face visors for the league for the upcoming 2020 season. A face shield could be a great idea for football, but what about the other sports.
The National Hockey League made helmets mandatory four decades ago, for any player who entered the league after June 1, 1979 and players had to wear a helmet but a player who signed his first pro contract before that date could opt out, by signing a wavier. In 1978–79 30% of the NHL did not wear a helmet.
Now the concept of the NHL, could be adapted for use as well in the NHL, bur what about the other sports like baseball and basketball. Will the players wear a cloth face mask as part of the new normal in sports. In the age of social distancing and face masks professional sports teams have created face masks with the team logo on them.
The trend in fashion for the 2020 season is #facemask the trikini is now taking the place of the bikini. Sports fashion, beach fashion and whether we like it or not face masks have now become a new fashion accessory. In the year of 2020 sports fashion, has added an accessory the face mask.

The sports world was affected over 100 years ago, and players and fans were wearing face masks. In the year, 2020 once again to the pandemic of COVID-19 the world is once again wearing face masks. As you can see sports was not spared and during the 1918–1919 pandemic MLB players, umpires and managers wore them during games.
Sports players, fans and a pandemic has been around as you can see they were adjusting to the new normal, and players and fans have to do so once again. Together as one we will get through this as our ancestors did during the that pandemic.
