Mank, led with 10 Oscars Nominations

History made two women nominated for best director

The 93rd Oscars® were announced earlier this morning March 15, by actor-producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas and singer, songwriter and actor Nick Jonas.

The 93rd Oscars will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Union Station Los Angeles and the Dolby® Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and will be televised live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The Oscars also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.

Mank, by David Fincher led the Academy Awards nominations with 10 nominations and two women for the first time were nominated for best director — Chloé Zhao and Emerald Fennell.

The remaining eight films joing “Mank” are Fennell’s “Promising Young Woman,” Zhao’s “Nomadland,” “Judas and the Black Messiah,” “Sound of Metal,” “Minari” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7.”

The power of the woman, this year made history at the Oscars as two women were nominated for best director category. Previously, only five women have ever been nominated in the category before Zhao is the first woman of Asian descent nominated. The other nominees were Lee Isaac Chung for “Minari,” David Fincher for “Mank” and Thomas Vinterberg for “Another Round.”
