Music, Magic, and Legends
It’s been 62 years since Motown started and legends were born. On January 12, 1959 Detroit was the placed where music hits were made. Some of the early artists from Motown included Smoky Robinson and the Miracles, Mary Wells Mable John, Eddie Holland. The first number one hit for the Miracles was Shop on the R & B charts.
Motown music , founded by Berry Gordy, Jr. began producing music by some of the legends of music we know today. Growing up in the 1960’s, and 1970s gave us lasting music and memories. The 1960s not only brought us some great music but it brought on the Civil Rights movement.
The Supremes, Smoky Robinson and the Miracles, the Jackson 5 Mary Wells Billy Davis and Diana Ross are what music legends are made of. In 1972 Motown left Detroit and head west to Los Angeles and relocated to Sunset Blvd. If the walls and streets could talk, in Hollywood and the surrounding areas which you can feel the ghosts of old Hollywood.
The music and magic will last forever and have become ingrained into our lives. Our past experiences we grew up with from the Motown music, is engrained in lives forever and ever. It has given us awareness of music and our culture and what we have accomplished and what we still need to do for equality for all. From civil rights to social media we have become outspoken for the cause, using music to continue to spread the word which put the music of Motown at the fore front again.
