Golden Globes give out Sunday:

Red Carpet

Golden Globes — Airs Sunday on NBC Feb. 28.

The Golden Globes will be give out this Sunday, with no Red Carpet this year. Partial street closures around the area of Wilshire and Santa Monica Blvd near the Hilton. The awards are typically given out in January, but because of the pandemic, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, delayed the ceremony to February this year.

The pandemic has changed the look of the 2021 Golden Globe Awards, this year with no red carpet. The awards always airs before the Oscars which is also delayed in airing and will be aired this April.

This year Netflix and Amazon dominated the list with their own films, like “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and “One Night in Miami,” which wouldn’t have relied on open movie theaters to find eyeballs even during a standard year — and with movies that the streaming companies purchased from traditional studios, including Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7. The Televisions categories included from Netflix, “The Queen’s Gambit” which benefited from the past year’s audience.

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey will return to host the ceremony, which they last led in 2015, will host the 78th Golden Globe Awards Sunday, Feb. 28, on NBC.

Red Carpet 2021 will not be held this year.
