Dave was introduced to music at a very early age, while listening to the Friday Night Grand Ole Opry on the radio, and watching his dad play his old guitar.
He fell in love with country music and dreamed of being a professional singer someday. By the age of twelve,Dave bought his first guitar and taught himself to play.
At the age of thirteen, he was singing in local St Louis nightclubs and with the help of his father, had formed his own band. Dave was a shy kid, but he found his music was where he could shine, and was quickly recognized for his talent as a singer. He became famous as the “little kid with the big voice”
After serving in the Army, Dave re-entered the music business and formed a band with his friends, Larry and Bob Rolens. The band was called “Nashville Enterprise” and they began touring as a road act. This early band evolved over the years into a show group and became known as the “Cottonwood Show”. Dave honed his skill as a stage performer during this time, and “The Cottonwood Show” became widely received and popular throughout the United States, playing large club venues including Las Vegas. In the early 1980s, the band widened its musical horizons, increased the number of band members on stage and once again changed its name to become the popular commercial rock group, “Baywolfe”. Dave and his partners settled once again in St Louis and the band home based from Granny’s Rocker in Edwardsville, Illinois.
In late1987, Dave left the music business to settle down and raise a family, but the need to express himself through his music kept him restless. Dave began playing regularly with the band “Driftwood”. It was at that time Dave became a member of the “General Lee” band and was back into performing full time. In 1999, General Lee disbanded for members to pursue other interests. Dave left the music business once again until 2007 when he began playing bass and singing with former music partner, Bob Rolens.
In 2009, Dave joined Ray Warren, Tim Campbell and Zeke Zimmerman in reforming the popular Midwest band “Doc Holiday”. Dave feels very comfortable with the talent combination of “Doc Holiday” and the rich musical history it represents. He has the freedom to draw from his musical roots and bring a contemporary sound to the classic country and rockabilly music styles of his youth.
