Defense of a Former President:
Judgement Day:
Today, is the day that the defense lawyers start to show present their case against former President Trump. It should be interesting because the preponderance of evidence and facts presented were very compelling to convict on him inciting and insurrection.
What is meant by an insurrection? It is a violent uprising against an authority of government, “‘the insurrection was savagely put down.” The Insurrection Act of 1807 is a United States federal law that empowers the President of the United States to deploy U.S. military and federalized National Guard troops within the United States in particular circumstances such as to suppress civil disorder insurrection or rebellion.
Over the last three days the House managers present a strong and solid case that the former President had indeed incited an insurrection. He for months had fanned the flames to his supporters encouraging them to commit violent acts against America. He convinced his followers that the election had been stolen from him, a fact that was not true.
However, it is going to take a miracle to get 17 Republicans Senators to vote to convict the former President which seems highly unlikely. Three GOP Senators met with the defense attorney’s of the former President, a move that seems like a conflict of interest. We as Americans have been questioning the move that three Senators Ted Cruz of Texas, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and Mike Lee of Utah. Why were they entering the room where they were preparing their defense to the House impeachment managers. A jury is supposed to be fair and impartial. The Senators, are there to cast a vote to either convict or acquit.
On day three empty desks were seen during day 3 of the impeachment trial were seen at least 15 Senators did not even show up at the hearing.
Friday, February 12, 2021 is a day America waits to see what the defense of such violent acts will be. How can you possibly have a defense to defend an inciting and insurrection.
The trial begins at 12:00 ET / 9:00 PT, and the defense begins their arguments to keep the former President from being acquitted. A conviction seems unlikely, that 17 senators will vote to convict, but there is a slight chance that there could be but it seems highly unlikely.
